Professor, Pharmaceutical Technology Department at Universidad de Sevilla and Pharmacy Doctorate Program

Dr. Lucia Martín Banderas is graduated in Pharmacy by the University of Sevilla (1999). She has developed her career in Pharmaceutical Technology and Engineering and Fluid Mechanics. She did her doctoral thesis in microfluidics. Using microfluidics devices she developed bar-code microparticles for diagnosis purposes. Results were patented and exploited by Ingeniatrics Tecnologias (FlowBeads®). Today, she is involved in the developing of nanomedicines for exceptional drug bioavailability and target (i.e. patent WO2016/128591A1), including nanoteragnostic agents that simultaneously allow treatment and diagnosis. She is professor of the Pharmaceutical Technology Department at Universidad de Sevilla and Pharmacy Doctorate Program. She also is a member of the Doctorate Commission for PhD student evaluation. Actually, she is Director of the Central Service of Biology of the CITIUS-US.

She completed her formation with different research stays in Goethe Universitat, Frankfurt (Germany)(2012); Research Institute for Medicines and Pharmaceutical Sciences (iMed.UL)-Univsersity of Lisbon (Portugal) (2013); Dpt. of Neurosciences – University of Cadiz (Spain) (2013). She has accredited formation for animal handling and experimentation. From 2005 she is funding partner of the spin-off Ingeniatrics Tecnologías S.L. (Spain). She published three book chapters and more than 30 papers in international peer reviewed (ISI) journals, most in Pharmaceutical Sciences and Nanoscience top journals.

She has supervised/co-supervised one Post-Docs (completed), 5 PhD students (3 completed) and 10 foreign MSc students (Erasmus programs and DAAD-RISE program), and several researcher assistants. She attracted direct competitive funding at regional, national and international levels. She has acted as referee for top-ranked journals in her area of expertise, and for international funding agencies Foncyt (ARG), LEaDing Fellows Postdocs Programme a H2020-Marie Skłodowska-Curie COFUND Programme.
